He went to Lancaster County, South Carolina, and later to Edgefield, South Carolina, finally removing to Georgia.

Joseph is supposed to be the same as Joel, who settled first in Edgefield, South Carolina, and then moved to Georgia, and became the father of the great William H. Crawford, so distinguished in the affairs of Georgia.

Another source states this Joseph Crawford died in North Carolina and gives no connection with Georgia.
