General Notes: Husband - Joseph Aiken

In 1794 he and his young wife made the long and difficult journey over the mountains, locating one mile south of Bulger Station, Smith township, Washington County, Pennsylvania. They first erected a rude log cabin, and began to improve the property with such primitive tools as were obtainable. But perseverance and industry conquered the obstacles, and success at last crowned their efforts. He was a Whig in politics, and a soldier in the war of 1812. Both were members of the Seceder Church.
