General Notes: Husband - Frank Preston Craig

He attended the public schools of Cool Spring Township, Mercer County, PA, and followed farming until he reached the age of sixteen years, when he engaged with L. C. Bartlow, of Mercer, and of him learned the trade of a jeweler. In 1887 he went to Sandy Lake and there engaged with W. T. McBurney, where he worked one year, and in 1888 went to West Middlesex, where he engaged in the jewelry business for two and a half years. He then sold out his store and purchased an interest in L. C. Bartlow's store, in Mercer, and continued there two and a half years, then sold and moved to Sandy Lake. In this new field he operated a jewelry store until 1906, then sold to H. H. Vath.
In politics he was an active worker in the Democratic Party. He was elected as one of the county commissioners for Mercer County in 1906 and attended to the duties of such office until his term expired, January 4, 1909. In the meantime he was renominated to the office in the spring of 1908, and he was again elected in November, 1908. He was the first Democrat to hold that office in Mercer County for more than one term.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows' order. In church connection he was Methodist Episcopal. [HMC 1909, 850]
