General Notes: Husband - James Wallace


He learned the mechanical engineering business and became a steamboat engineer. In November, 1861, he enlisted in Hampton's Battery, of the Pennsylvania Artillery, and at the battle of Winchester, Virginia, he volunteered with the forlorn hope, to blow up the powder magazine to prevent its capture by the Confederates, and was killed in the resulting explosion.
