He was born in Mercer county, at the old Courtney Mills, in Liberty township. He was a cabinet maker and was the first to work at such a trade in the place.
Politically he was a Republican. He and his wife were members of the United Presbyterian church, in which he was an ardent worker. He resided the greater part of his life at Grove City.
