General Notes: Husband - James H. Lee

---

He moved from Baltimore, Maryland, to Canton, Ohio, and eventually to Oil City, Pennsylvania, where he was an early settler. Being a molder by trade, he worked at the iron furnaces, which ranked with the leading industries of the county in those days. When the furnaces were abandoned he devoted himself to farming, owning a tract across the river in what is now known as the south side of Oil City. His holdings were large, extending from what is now Division Street to Central Avenue, and he continued agricultural pursuits until his death, at the age of sixty-five years. He is
buried with his wife in Mount Pleasant cemetery, part of which was taken from his property. They were Methodists in religious belief, and he supported the principles of the Whig Party. [HVC 1919, 757]
