General Notes: Husband - William Cowen


He was of German extract. From Virginia he went to Ohio and located in Franklin County, where he made his home for five years. From there he migrated to Venango County, Pennsylvania, in 1823, and settled in Plum Township, on a tract of land containing 200 acres, five miles northeast of Cooperstown.
He was a democrat and was elected to and held the office of County Com­missioner for three years. He was twice elected as a justice of the peace, but refused to serve.
He had two children by his first wife and five by his second.

He went to Fairfield County, Ohio, from Rockingham County, Virginia, in 1822.
