General Notes: Husband - David Cowan

He was of Scotch descent. He removed to Snowden township, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and later to Baldwin township, where he died.

He was born near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and crossed the mountains at a very early day, settling in what is now Baldwin township, Allegheny County. There he bought a partly improved farm. He cleared and improved it and prospered, owning in addition to his farm in Baldwin, one in Bethel township on which his son Thomas lived for many years. He was one of the strong characters of his day, widely known and everywhere esteemed for his sturdy adherence to the strictest code of honor in all his dealings. He died about 1868, and is buried in the graveyard of Lebanon Presbyterian Church, of which congregation he was a strong pillar.

General Notes: Wife - Margaret Thompson

She was born the same year as her husband, i.e. 1775. [HAC 1889, 715]
