General Notes: Husband - Samuel Kyle Agnew


He was born in Tuckehoe Valley, Northumberland (later Blair) County, Pennsylvania, where his father had large landed estates, and was one of a large family of children. His father was one of the early settlers of Pennsylvania, and was of Scotch-Irish descent, generally considered all Scotch.

Civil War: he was mustered into the army, June 15, 1863, for a period of six months, and was appointed commissary sergeant in Company C, Twenty-second Pennsylvania Regiment, Volunteer Cavalry, and was discharged by virtue of reenlistment for three years, January 4, 1864, and was appointed farrier in Company I, Third Provisional Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry, and served for the duration of the war.
