General Notes: Husband - William T. Courson

He spent the larger part of his early life in Amwell Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania, and remained with his parents until he reached maturity. When he started out for himself he engaged in farming in Amwell Township and for three years was in partnership with H. M. Keeney, their operations including the buying and shipping of stock. Later he continued the business by himself and in 1883 he settled on his own farm, where he resided thereafter. This land was very valuable and Mr. Courson, by his improvements, added materially to its worth. In 1898 he erected a beautiful home, and in 1906 built the home in which his son lived on the farm.
For many years Mr. Courson was one of Amwell Township's most active, useful and public spirited citizens. He was frequently invited to hold offices of importance, and for twelve consecutive years he served as road supervisor and for three years as township auditor, and served multiple terms as a director of the poor for Washington County, at one time being chairman of the board. In his political views he was a Republican. He was a director in the Farmers' Mutual Telephone Company, of Washington County, and his son, John Courson, was a lineman for the company.
