He was licensed by Presbytery of Ohio; ordained by that of Allegheny, April 21, 1823. He was pastor of Concord Church forty-one years.

He became pastor of the Concord Presbyterian Church, Butler County, Pennsylvania, in 1823, and continued to minister to Concord for more than forty years, till the infirmity of age admon-ished him that he must cease from his labors. He resigned his charge in the spring of 1864, and died at his home in the bounds of the Concord congregation in the eighty-fourth year of his age. [HBC 1883, 385]
