General Notes: Husband - Dr. John Coulter, M.D.

Birth year 1787. [HVC 1890, 1000] Birth year 1797. [CAB, 680]

He studied medicine with Epaphroditus Cossitt, of Mercer, PA. He was one of the first practicing physicians in Venango County, he and Dr. John D. Wood being the earliest physicians in the Scrubgrass region. Dr. Coulter was one of the leading pioneer farmers in what is now Clinton Township, living on his farm there until his death. His professional duties took him all over the southwestern part of the county and into the adjoining portions of Butler and Mercer counties. It is said that he "never kept any accounts, and consequently the full remuneration for his services depended very much upon the memory and honesty of the patient." [CAB, 680]
