General Notes: Husband - Andrew Jackson Helfferich

He attended the common schools of the township, and acquired a good education. He commenced his business career as a farmer and followed this occupation for a number of years. About 1904 he accepted a position as inspector for the American Natural Gas Company; a part of his work was the looking after fifteen wells, about twice a week, and reading the meter. He always showed a fine public spirit, and served his township in various capacities; as supervisor of roads for six years; township assessor, three years; and a number of times on the election boards. His religious affiliations were with the Lutheran church. He was assistant secretary in the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and secretary and master in the Grange.
