General Notes: Husband - Samuel Swearingen


He was born near Bladensburg, Maryland. He was married there and came to Hanover township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, in 1779, and settled on a farm later owned by his grandson, John Van Swearingen. He took up 400 acres, which was divided among his heirs in 1841, and died at the age of eighty-eight years. [HBC 1888, 895]

Shortly after the close of the war of the Revolution he settled in what is now Hanover township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. His house was a stopping place for the Indian scouts. [BDHRFC, 945]

He emigrated from Rock Creek, Montgomery County, Maryland, about 1783, and settled in what is now Hanover Township, Beaver County, Pennsylvania. [PH, 8]
