General Notes: Husband - Thomas Colter

There are many Colters named in the Pennsylvania Archives as serving in the Revolution. His father was killed in a battle near Philadelphia, while in that service, leaving a family in Philadelphia. He continued to live in Philadelphia until of age, making his home in the family of an uncle named Brooks. On coming of age, he went from Philadelphia to the Susquehanna Valley, settling a few miles southeast of Williamsport, at Sunbury, Northumberland County. He was married there and three daughters were born while the residence continued in the Susquehanna Valley. In 1797 he moved with his family to Crawford County, settling in Venango township. During the time of their residence in Crawford County, nine other children were born to these pioneer settlers.

He was a soldier of the War of 1812.
