General Notes: Husband - John Hoover

He was a great hunter, and in a single winter he killed a hundred deer near the site of Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania. He was accustomed to hunt in the winters and to make tar in the summers. His son Charles C. Hoover made 550 gallons of tar in a single season. He prepared medicines from the tar, which seemed to be very valuable for the purposes intended. In a quiet way he did a large business.
