She was descended from the Revolutionary soldiers David White, captain of Company Eight, 3rd Battalion, Cumberland County Militia, 1781; James Dunlap, lieutenant-colonel of the 10th Battalion, Cumberland County, 1778; Joseph Pollock, lieutenant in the Northumberland County Militia; and Thomas Cochran, captain in the York County Militia. She was also descended from James Sterrett, carpenter on Commodore Perry's flagship during the battle of Lake Erie and ensign in the 4th Battalion, Lancaster County Militia.
