He and his three brothers, Thomas, Samuel and William, were Protestants, and were possessed of considerable property, but were compelled to leave their property behind them and flee to America. A priest of the Catholic church was a true friend to them, and took charge of their property interests in Ireland. The Cochran brothers bought land in Chester County, Pennsylvania, and laid out a town which they called Cochranville. He and his brothers, Samuel and William, remained in Chester County, where they reared families and died. Thomas moved to Millerstown, Perry County.
