He was born in Londonderry, Ireland, and came to America in 1794, locating in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. About the year 1800 he removed to Pine township, Allegheny County, where he built a cabin, and later a house, which bore the inscription of 1806. Here he farmed and operated a sawmill.
