She was graduated from the Warren High School, Warren, Pennsylvania, in 1881. She wrote the class song at graduation, possessing much of the poetic ability of her father; and after leaving school entered upon the study of medicine under Dr. I. M. Davies, with whom she remained until 1883, when she entered the Woman's Homeopathic College of New York. In 1885 she began the practice of medicine in Dayton, Ohio, which she continued until within a few weeks of her untimely death. She was also a musician of no mean ability.
