He was a miller by occupation, served in the Civil War, was captured at Murfresboro, Tennessee, and died from the effects of his imprisonment the same year. [HVC 1890, 1018]

A soldier of the Union army, he was captured at Gettysburg and died in prison. [BHCIA, 499]
