General Notes: Husband - Clay Curtis Ruff

He was a graduate of Slippery Rock State Normal, in class of 1898, and in 1902 of the Franklin College, of Ohio, in which he took a classical course. He taught one year at the State Normal, and two terms at the Curry College of Pittsburgh, his specialty being mathematics.

After completing his early schooling at Ruffsdale, he attended Greensburg Seminary and Mt. Pleasant Institute. He was graduated from Slippery Rock State Normal School in 1898 and from Franklin College (Ohio) in 1902. Franklin College later combined with Muskingum College, New Concord, Ohio, and he was thus an alumnus of that institution. Beginning in 1908 Professor Ruff has been connected with Slippery Rock State Normal School.
Mr. Ruff was an elder in the Presbyterian Church and was active in all church affairs. He was secretary of the Ruling Elders Association of Butler Presbytery beginning at its formation about 1924. He was affiliated with the Masonic lodges, having membership in the Blue Lodge at Grove City, Chapter and Knight Templars at Butler and Consistory at New Castle, and Knights of Pythias. Professor Ruff was also interested in physical education and was president of the Physical Culture Society of Pittsburgh.
