General Notes: Husband - Washington Hood Gilpin


He was educated at private schools of Philadelphia and at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating at the latter institution in 1864. He studied law under his father, Charles Gilpin, and was admitted to the Philadelphia bar, 1866, and then practiced his profession in that city. He was a member of the Union League and of the Rittenhouse Club.
