General Notes: Husband - Samuel Levis


Samuel Levis and William Garrat (ancestor of the prominent Garrett family of Chester County, Pennsylvania, and Philadelphia), both of Harby, Leicestershire, England, purchased of William Penn by deeds of lease and release, dated August 9 and 10, 1684, 1000 acres to be laid out in Pennsylvania, and came to Pennsylvania, bringing certificate from Friends at Harby, dated July 20, 1684. He settled in Springfield township, on land taken up under the deeds mentioned. He was a member of the Provincial Council, 1692-93; Member of Assembly, 1689-94-98-1700-06-07-08-09; and was commissioned a Justice for Chester County Court in 1686 and again in 1689.
