General Notes: Husband - Samuel Warden, Sr.

He was born in the north of Ireland, immigrated to York County, Pennsylvania, where he remained a short time and in 1768 or 1770 came to what is now East Huntingdon township, Westmoreland County. He camped in his cart for six weeks and then erected a cabin on "Springfields," a tract of three hundred and seventy acres of land which he located near the site of Mt. Pleasant.
He was one of the founders and first elders and trustees of the old Middle Presbyterian church, which was organized in 1776. [BHCWC, 708]

He came to America from Donegal, Ireland, about 1770. He was of Irish or Scotch-Irish descent, but nothing is known of his ancestry. He was a man of liberal education for that time as is shown by letters and papers belonging to him that were kept in the family. He was one of the charter members of the Middle Presbyterian church, but about the year 1802 left that church and joined what is now the United Presbyterian congregation, of Mount Pleasant. By occupation he was a farmer, and lived on the old Warden farm one mile west of Mount Pleasant along the turnpike.

General Notes: Wife - Mary Clarke
