General Notes: Husband - Joseph Peck

He was a descendant in the twenty-first generation from John Peck, of Belton, Yorkshire, England.
He came to America in the "Diligent," reaching Boston, August 10, 1638, from Ipswich, Suffolk, England. He settled in Hingham; was representative 1639-40-41-42; moved to Rehoboth, Massachusetts, in 1645; settled in the part later known as Seekonk Plain; was a very active and influential citizen.

From Hingham, England, in 1638 he, with his older brother, Rev. Robert Peck, and members of his Puritan flock and their families, came in the ship "Diligent" of Ipswich, England, John Martin, master, and settled in Hingham, Massachusetts. He remained there until 1645; though in 1641 he was one of the principal purchasers of Seekonk, afterward called Rehoboth, where, from 1645, his name continually appears on the records of the town in the management of its affairs, until his age precluded him from such duties. In 1650 the court appointed him to administer marriage, and in 1651 to decide all controversies not exceeding a certain amount. He was one of the leading men and one of the wealthiest in his section. He had eight children. [P-AH, 89]
