General Notes: Husband - Charles Franklin Hosford, Jr.


He was born at Bloomington, Illinois, and attended the public and the high schools in Butler, Pennsylvania. He graduated at Princeton University in 1908, with his degree of Bachelor of Arts, and preparing for his profession at Harvard University Law School, he graduated there with his degree of Bachelor of Laws, in the class of 1911. He was admitted to the Butler County bar that year, and he commenced the practice of his profession in association with Judge A. E. Reiber; and while Judge Reiber was on the bench, from 1913 to 1923, he practiced under his own name. From 1923 on he was specializing in corporation law, as a member of the firm of Reiber, Hosford & Sipe.
Mr. Hosford was president of the Erie Coal Mining Company, and he was also the executive head of a number of other corporations. He was a Republican in his political convictions, and with vote and influence he supported the principles of that party. He was a member of the Sterling Club, the Country Club, and the Board of Commerce, of Butler, and the Princeton Club of Western Pennsylvania. His religious fellowship was with the First English Lutheran Church.
