General Notes: Husband - Johannes Walter
Sources do not agree on where he was born; some say Germany, some say Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
In about 1803-04 two brothers, John and Peter Walter, came to the area of southern Venango County, Pennsylvania, to secure land more cheaply than it could be obtained in the more settled parts of the state. They settled two miles apart, Peter near the old log church two miles north of John, where he lived and died. John Walter also made a permanent home there, near the late home of his grandson Jacob H. Walter, his land lying in both Irwin and Clinton Townships, with the residence in Irwin. There he died, and he was buried on his ninetieth birthday.
