General Notes: Husband - Col. Chatham

About the year 1765 Col. Chatham and his son-in-law, John Fleming, visited the West Branch Valley, Clinton County, Pennsylvania. The former purchased a body of lands on what is now Chatham's run, and from whom, it is said, the run derives its name. In 1773 John Fleming bought the tract of land, containing over 1,600 acres, in the warranty name of Dr. Francis Allison. There either was erected, or Colonel Chatham built a mill on Chatham's run, and there lived out the balance of his days.
