He began the study of medicine in 1879 in the office of James Scroggs, Jr., of Beaver, Pennsylvania. He entered Jefferson Medical College at Philadelphia in 1881, and was graduated in 1883. He located in Beaver Falls, where he developed a large and growing practice.
