General Notes: Husband - Chadds Chalfant


The Chalfants were prominent in High Wycombe, England, during the reign of Henry VIII. Some of the Chalfants came over with William Penn and settled near Philadelphia.

He was born in the middle of the eighteenth century at Chadds' Ford on the Brandywine. After marrying, he started westward with his bride and settled at Brownsville, Pennsylvania. He was a millwright by trade, a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church and a Mason. He was the father of seven children, the youngest of whom was Walter B.
