General Notes: Husband - Samuel Brady Cathcart

He was reared on his father's homestead in Mahoning township, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania. He remained there until 1890, when he purchased a farm of seventy-eight acres, and after he came to own the old homestead his holdings cover 174 acres of land. He employed all modern methods in the conduct of his farm and his product ranked among the best in the county. A public-spirited citizen, he was called to the position of road supervisor of his township, in which he served for five years, and he also served as overseer of the poor and as school director. In politics he voted the Republican ticket.
He and his wife were members of the M. E. Church of Oakland, of which he was a trustee.
