General Notes: Husband - Robert Lewis Rodgers

He passed through the public school and then spent one year as a student at Jamestown Seminary. He then entered Fredonia (Pennsylvania) Institute and completed there a course of three years. After his graduation he taught school for two terms, but at the outbreak of the Spanish-American war enlisted in Company K, Fifteenth Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry, and did garrison duty at Ft. Sheridan. After the close of the Spanish-American war he enlisted in the National Guard and made an excellent record as a corporal in his company, being complimented by Captain Millard Scheide and Colonel Willis J. Huling, commanding the Sixteenth Regiment, N. G. P. He was honorably mustered out of the United States service January 31, 1899. He then returned to Jamestown where he taught school for about three years, when he returned to farming and occupied the old family estate for six years. After the retirement of his grandfather he had complete charge of the old Rodgers farm and did a considerable business also as an auctioneer in the spring and fall seasons. He was further interested in the Conneaut Lake Navigation Company.
He was an active and well known member of the Masonic fraternity, being identified with Adelphic Lodge No. 424, F. & A. M., of Jamestown.
