General Notes: Husband - Walter Cassidy

He spent his early life and was educated in Barkeyville, Venango County, Pennsylvania, and in after years became a farmer, later using his many teams in contract hauling in Bradford, McKean County, Pennsylvania. In 1862 he enlisted in Company K, Fourth Regiment Pennsylvania Cavalry, and served throughout the entire war, being under fire in some of the most important battles of the war, and also fought in numerous skirmishes. The list of his battles includes Antietam, Gettysburg, Chancellorsville, Seven Days' Battle, Second Bull Run and Shepardsville. At the first-named battle he was captured, sent to Andersonville prison, but soon exchanged, and returned to his regiment. He received an honorable discharge at the close of the war, with the rank of corporal. In politics he was a Republican, and for several terms served as supervisor in Bradford. With his wife he was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church. [GPHNP, 357]
