General Notes: Husband - Conrad Gansefort Carver

He attained manhood in his native county, came to Sharon, Pennsylvania, in 1829 and engaged in milling and merchandising, later following contracting along the great canal system. He was a pioneer developer of the coal fields of the famous Shenango Valley, operating with General Curtis and George Boyce, who were among the first to ship coal to Erie, by way of the canal. He was also for a time a manufacturer and continued in the coal industry up to within a few years of his death. He was the third postmaster of Sharon, serving from 1841 to 1845. On East Hill he platted Carver's Addition to the town and lived to see the town grow from a small hamlet to a borough of goodly proportions. In his political views he was an old line Whig, and later a Republican, true and loyal to his convictions. [HMC 1909, 383]
