General Notes: Husband - Hon. Jacob Cort

He followed tinning for many years, then en-gaged in the foundry business at Monongahela City, Washington County, Pennsylvania, from which he removed in March, 1855, but only remained a few months when he was taken sick and returned to his native township, where he died.
He never enjoyed many educational advantages in boy-hood, but acquired a fair education by reading and study after arriving at manhood and became an excellent mathematician. He was elected in 1848 as a member of the Pennsylvania Legisla-ture. His opponent was George V. Lawrence, and it was the only time that noted politician was ever defeated. In 1850 Mr. Cort was re-elected by an increased majority. He served as chairman of the democratic county committee for many years, was a Jacksonian democrat and a highly esteemed member of the Reformed church.
He and his wife had nine children, six sons and three daughters, of whom five were still living in 1890.

Notes: Marriage

They were married June 21, 1835. [GHCWC, 355]
