General Notes: Husband - William B. Smullin

He received his early education in the public schools and then worked at farming until he was thirty-five years of age, when he married and removed to Venango County, Pennsylvania, and engaged in the oil business, operating oil wells for ten years. He was extremely successful for some time, but later met with reverses, and removed to Big Run, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, where he worked in the saw mill for six years, after which he farmed near Summerville, Pennsylvania, for several years, and finally returned to Putneyville, Armstrong County, where he farmed a portion of the family homestead until his death. He was a Republican in politics, and a Methodist in religion.
