General Notes: Husband - John Carothers

He was a farmer, living in South Huntingdon Twp, Westmoreland County, PA.

He received his education in the common schools of his neighborhood and was engaged in farming in South Huntingdon town­ship, Westmoreland County, PA, until 1887. He then removed to West Newton in order to secure better educational ad­vantages for his family than was afforded by the rural district schools. He immediately pur­chased a desirable lot in the borough and erected a fine and commodious resi­dence.
