General Notes: Husband - James White Carothers

He was educated in the public schools and at the Frankfort Academy. With the exception of five years spent in the employ of the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Railroad, when he lived at Pittsburgh, his entire life was spent on the homestead farm. He obtained this by inheritance, and sold just twelve acres. Until 1912 he was a breeder of registered short horn cattle, and was also engaged in breeding Delaine sheep, and always had about one hundred and fifty in his flock. He also had a coal bank and supplied Frankfort Springs for about thirty years. He and his father erected a number of new and improved buildings on the place. He was a staunch supporter of the Democratic party, but consistently and persistently refused to hold public office. His fraternal membership was with Glasgow Lodge, No. 485, Free and Accepted Masons.
