General Notes: Husband - Hon. C. Edward Carothers

He was born in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania, but was reared and educated in Fayette County. In 1882, Mr. Carothers came to Washington County, where he became extensively engaged in agricultural pursuits. In association with his son, William E. Carothers, and R. G. Lutton, he established the Pasteur Dairy Company, which developed into a large enterprise of that section. From early manhood Mr. Carothers took an active interest in public affairs and was frequently chosen for responsible positions by his fellow citizens. He served one term as sheriff of Washington County, and in 1908 was elected a member of the General Assembly.
He and his family were members of the Chartiers Presbyterian Church.
