General Notes: Husband - John Carlile

Of Scotch-Irish lineage he was reared in Pennsylvania, and for many years followed blacksmithing. In 1832 he came to Clearfield County, and was appointed by the governor justice of the peace. When that office became an elective one, he was continued in it by popular vote for many years, and he also served as county commissioner. His later life was devoted to merchandising until old age unfitted him for further work. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
