General Notes: Husband - James Lyle
He was a descendant of a prominent pioneer family of the name which resided in Cross Creek and Smith townships, Washington County, Pennsylvania. He began wedded life on a farm near Candor, Smith township, Washington County, after-ward moving to a farm lying about three miles and a half south of Burgettstown, and following farm-ing with marked success. He was a well read, intelligent man, a pleasant conversationalist, fond of company, and, though seldom leaving home to visit friends, always gave a hearty welcome to the many who loved to cultivate his acquaintance. In personal appearance he was tall and slender and was of a retiring disposition, and a lover of home comforts. In politics he was formerly a Whig, and upon the organization of the Republican party became an active worker in its ranks.
