General Notes: Husband - Robert Weir

He was a Covenanter, and was born in Ireland. He came to Philadelphia in 1773, from Edinburg, Scotland, where he was attending school. He was a sympathizer with the Colonists, and for this reason came to America. He came to a place on "Loyal run," in what is now Brush Valley township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania, about the commencement of the Revolution. He entered the Revolutionary army in 1777, and continued till the close of the war. In the last two years, he served as a recruiting sergeant.
