General Notes: Husband - Robert S. Hindman
He was reared on the family farm in Cherry Township, Butler County, PA, and attended the public schools. He early responded to the call to arms during the Civil war, enlisting June 10, 1861, as a member of Company C, Eleventh Regiment Pa. Vol. Reserves, for three years' service. He was mustered out at Pittsburg on June 17, 1864. Early in life he turned his attention to farming, which he followed until his removal to West Sunbury, except for three years spent in the mercantile business at Moniteau, Cherry Township, where he owned a half interest in a store, and the time spent in the army. He moved to the borough in December, 1896, renting his farm on shares, and after 1906 was a rural mail carrier. He was the organizer of the Phoenix Mills. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church, and prior to his removal to West Sunbury was an elder of Pleasant Valley Church.
