General Notes: Husband - David Calhoon

He was born in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and was among the first settlers of Mifflin township, Allegheny County, where he located in 1784. He served in the Revolutionary War, and took part in many of the battles of that war. He fought at Brandywine; at Camden, under General Gates; at Guilford courthouse, under General Green, and saw General Cornwallis deliver up his sword at Yorktown. His patent for 320 acres of land in Mifflin township was granted in 1803. At the beginning of the War of 1812, then fifty-four years old, he shouldered his musket and marched to General Harrison's headquarters, but, on account of his age, was ordered back to guard Fort Pitt, where he remained during the rest of the war. During this period he held the rank of captain.
