He settled on a farm in Birmingham township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. There they resided until 1761, when they removed to Christiana Hundred, near Wilmington, New Castle County, Delaware, where he later died. He and his family were members of the Society of Friends.

He and his wife had twelve children.
