General Notes: Husband - John Steele

He and his wife were cousins.

He was born on the Mount Pleasant township homestead of the Steels. He grew up on the home farm, which later became his property, and which was his home until 1835, when he moved to the "Judge Robert Hanna Farm", in Salem and Hempfield townships, which had been purchased by him in 1826, and on which was located "Hannastown", the first county seat of Westmoreland County. He became one of the foremost business men and large land owners in the county. The "Hannastown Farm" became the Steel's homestead, although all of John Steel's children were born on the Mount Pleasant farm.
He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church of New Alexandria.

He died April 22, 1860. [CRFP, 735]
