He was educated in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, read medicine under Dr. McCowan, and graduated from Washington College, Baltimore, Maryland, in 1846. He located at once in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, and engaged in the practice of his profession. Politically the Doctor was a Republican, formerly a Whig.
