General Notes: Husband - Conrad Buzzard

The Bussard family was established in Pennsylvania in colonial days, his father serving as a soldier of the Revolutionary war in defense of colonial interests. Being captured by the British troops, he was imprisoned and was starved to death while still held in captivity.

He was born in Northampton County, Pennsylvania, and the year 1779 witnessed his arrival in Westmoreland County, accompanied by his wife and one child. They also brought with them a cow and around its neck was fastened a bell, which was still in possession of the family over one hundred years later. Conrad Bussard secured a tract of land near Irwin Station and there successfully carried on general farming for many years. [But the dates given by the source do not make sense.]

He participated in the Whiskey Insurrection.

He came from the eastern part of Pennsylvania and settled at a point on the western edge of Hempfield township, Westmoreland County, which became known as Buzzardstown.
