Justin, Mae Butters
Justin R. Butters, 70, and his wife, Mae Butters, 72, of RD 1, Corry, died Sunday in an automobile accident.
Mr. Butters was born Oct. 23, 1901, in Corry, the son of Justin and Clemma Raymond Butters.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Corry and Corry Lodge No. 365 F. and A. M. He retired from Raymond Mfg. Co. in 1964. He was a Justice of the Peace in Concord Twp. for more than 30 years, and later served as district justice in the Union City area. He retired Oct. 23, 1971.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy during World War I, serving overseas in France. He was also a member of the American Legion in Corry.
Mrs. Butters was born Jan. 7, 1900, in Tionesta, the daughter of Howard and Florence Hunter Lusher.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Corry and the Order of the Eastern Star.
They are survived by four daughters, Mrs. Ray (Joyce) McMullan of Laurel, Md., Mrs. Donald (Mary) Satterlee of Lakeland, Fla., Mrs. Richard (Pat) Clark of Corry and Mrs. H.H. (Jane) Hancock of Titusville; a son, Sgt. James Rouse, of Grand Forks, N.D.; and 19 grandchildren.
Mr. Butters is survived by two brothers, Dr. J. Guy Butters of Corry and Dr. Frank E. Butters of Las Vegas, Nev. He was preceded in death by two brothers, George and Charles Butters.
Mrs. Butters was preceded in death by a brother, Forest Lusher.
Friends may call at the H. Richard Hays Funeral Home, Spartansburg, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and may attend services Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Corry United Methodist Church with Rev. Walter Gilliland officiating.
Burial will be in McCray Cemetery.
